ABOUT US

TAMARA “Tammy” I. KELLEY

ATTORNEY, PRINCIPAL

BIO

Growing up in rural Oklahoma, Tammy’s parents raised her to have strong values, to be honest, and to work hard. As a child, she enjoyed participating in extracurricular activities like 4-H, basketball, track, and her church’s youth group program. Tammy spent nearly every summer helping her family on the farm.  After graduating from Ralston High School, Tammy attended Oklahoma State University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree and then her Master’s in Business Administration. Law school was always at the back of her mind, but she always believed only the rich had the ability to go to law school. After an 18 year career in business development, and moving to the Denver area for one of those jobs, Tammy decided it was time to put that belief aside and enrolled in the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law.

The University of Denver provided an excellent legal education and an opportunity to intern for then Senator Mike Johnston. She chose to intern with Senator Johnston because although a Democrat, he was one of the very few who refused to simply go along with party lines, but insisted on engaging in discussion with both parties to understand issues that came to a vote, and some of his best friends in the house were on the other side of the isle. Being present for some of those discussions, and listening to a number of debates on the floor helped Tammy to learn to engage in conversations with clients involving questions that may not always be comfortable, but will lead to a better understanding of what the client truly wants to achieve and what might have been the precipitating factors of a contentious matter.

Tammy joined Colver Killin & Sprague (CKS) in 2016. CKS and its predecessors carried over 100 years of legacy in Northeast Colorado. CKS dissolved in 2017 to join forces with Cline Williams Wright Johnson & Oldfather, with all of the firm’s attorneys remaining. As the relationship between the two firms developed, it clarified to Tammy that her goal in moving to Holyoke was to work with a small locally owned and operated firm. With the desire to get back to small and locally owned and operated, Tammy started Kelley Law, Ltd in 2020 to serve the communities of Northeast Colorado as well as be able to give back to the communities that made it possible.

Tammy also currently serves as the Municipal Judge for the City of Holyoke as well as the Phillips County Attorney, while also serving individuals, families, non-profit organizations, and businesses in Northeast Colorado. Meeting and helping people has always been a strong passion of hers. It is her hope that within this service, she may improve the community for friends, neighbors, strangers, and our governing bodies.
